Thanks Roy... Tom is another great musical drummer... Saw him with Al Di Meola, then on the Yamaha Tour in the early 90's, he was promoting the then new Maple Custom... Awesome sound, awesome Clinic...

Yeah, BH, he was great w Dimeola...i saw them live in west-central FL when he had Kei Akagi on keys AW, if my mem serves me...it had to have been in the late 80s, maybe?...somewhere I have a grainy mono VHS tape, from a hotel in Ottawa TV set in summer '95, of a show aired from that tour...i used to take my VCR [pre-stereo/hi-fi [img]eek.gif[/img] ] with me OTR, AWA a small pair of needle-nose-type-plier-instrument! [img]wink.gif[/img] ]

I hope I can catch him OT w CC...

Chick just never stops!!

Carlos Benavent is the only one (besides Chick) from the original Touchstone line-up. Hope they'll play some tunes from that great album...like Dance of Chance, superb 6/8 tune with Acuna on drums.

Fuse, the show you got is from the Montreal jazz fest ~88. I was there, and it was one of the best shows I've seen. They played a magic version of "Song to the pharoah kings" of RTF. And is Kei Akagi good? Damn, a virtuoso, he burned those keys!!!

I happened to have been playing at the "Super Expo"[?] in Ottawa ATT...went to some of the clubs in Hull [aka "H*ll," as they call it] w the band...also reluctantly [at their nudging ;c)] went into a 'club' called 'Fannies' AW, ATT... [img]eek.gif[/img] ;c)

And Kei is a smokin' fusion pianist for sure [img]cool.gif[/img]

I was at that Televised concert as well... I agree, killer show. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] But the Al Di Meola Gig that really touched me was the one they did the year before, 1987. They played at the Club Soda, much more intimate setting and for me, remains one of those magical highlights I'll never forget. Same band but with a different percussionist. T'was the "Soaring Through A Dream" Tour.

I saw Tom with Brandon Fields and it was ridiculous!!, he was reading all the show and he played absolutely incredible.

What impressed me more was when I went backstage, he was like nothing had happened.... I mean, not a little sweet in his face, or his t shirt, he was totally fresh!!, after a 2 hour show of killing fussion, with solos etc.

He played so relaxed and in some effective way, way before the Gruber stuff was popular. [img]graemlins/beer.gif[/img]
